Training Courses (February and March 2010)

During February and March we'll be running two Foundation Training courses and a Themes & Layouts training day.

Foundation Training

This course lasts 2 days and is designed to train novices to the Insight system in how to best use the software's major features. The 1st or 2nd Day can also be attended separately where required. 

The scheduled training dates are as follows:

• Histon (Cambridge) - 23rd-24th Feb (BOOKING CLOSED)
• Brighton - 24th-25th March  
   

Foundation Training Course Outline

On Day 1 you'll learn about...

• The power of Insight with an overview of the feature set.
• Navigating your way around the web site and the Web Office.
• Changing your Menu/Site structure.
• Publishing articles, forms and adverts. 
• Publishing events most effectively on your web site calendar.
• Adding contacts to your database.
• Adding users to groups and assigning permissions.
• Sending mailings to different groups from within the Web Office.

On Day 2 you'll learn about...

• Configuring your site Address book to your needs.
• Storing extra information on users through "Notes".
• Building richer mailings that include images and links.
• The Rota feature for managing your activities.
• Publishing different media including Audio, Video and document files.
• Interacting with your members through forums and polls.
• Customising your web site look and feel.

Cost: £245 per person for the 2 day course (price includes VAT and lunch).
Day 1 or Day 2 can be attended separately for a cost of £135 per day.

Themes & Layouts Workshop (BOOKING CLOSED) 

This course is designed to help users implement a web site design within the Insight sytem using the 'Themes and Layouts' functionality. It will cover topics such as:

• Adding/Editing a layout
• Layout table and Cell structure
• Adding/Editing a Theme
• Cell Widths/ Cell Styles
• Applying Themes and Layouts to different areas
• Group layouts vs Article layouts
• Case Studies - Tips and Tricks
• How to integrate other web graphic technologies (Flash, Javascript, CSS etc)
• Debugging your design implementation issues

Someone attending this course should have a basic understanding of the Insight system.

Note: This course will not train users on how to use graphical software or to save images in a web appropriate format. It is designed to help web site designers, or site adminsitrators with a basic understanding of web site graphics, to implement their design using the Themes and Layouts interface.

To get the most out of the course it would be useful to come with a design that you wish to implement. The practical sessions could then be used to begin implementing your design, enabling you to ask specific questions about how best to go about it.

Cost: £135 per person (inc VAT)

General Information

All courses will contain a balance of demonstrations and exercises and run between 9.15 and 16.30. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Important: Every delegate attending any course will be required to bring their own laptop installed with Internet Explorer 7 or later, or Firefox 3.0 or later.
